UBC Dept of Earth and Ocean Sciences

Since 2014, Blue Max has continued to support the scientists and engineers of tomorrow!  As part of the University of British Columbia (UBC) School or Earth and Ocean Sciences, Blue Max commonly donates crews and rigs to UBC's field school class (EOSC 428/532).  This class, Field Techniques in Groundwater Hydrology, is attended by more than 60 students from UBC, SFU, UBCO and University of Calgary.   Blue Max is proud to support this great class, the professors, and the industry leading scientists of tomorrow!   Congrats to all the graduates of geology, hydrogeology and civil engineering majors involved in this class.

Once again Blue Max is represented as an industry leader, showing students environmental and geotechnical drilling techniques and methods at the AME RoundUp  "Student Guide to a Career in Exploration" Short Course.  Blu e Max is proud to aid students in the opportunity to learn more about the dynamic roles they will play in the exploration industry.

Heli-Sonic Drill Rig

You heard it right.  A sonic rig that is heli-portable.  And not just helicopter portable with a large chopper, we have a custom-designed drill rig that can be carried by an A Star helicopter with less than 1,900 lb lifts!  Blue Max is a little late bringing this unit to our website, seeing that we had the drill rig since the summer of 2016!  This rig has been field tested on a rather large geotechincal drilling project in 2016, working away pulling double-duty: sonic drilling and HQ coring with the same machine..  We are able to perform both sonic and diamond drilling on the same drill, maximizing the project budget for all overburden (sonic) and bedrock (diamond drilling) drilling needs.

Photo Winner!

Blue Max Drilling Inc. was chosen as one of the winners of the BC Environmental Industry Association (BCEIA) "Members at Work" contest.  The selected photo was us drilling in the Coastal Mountains for the Brucejack Mine Transmission Line Project in 2016.  Click here for a full size version of the photo.

Blue Max staff attends the Annual Contaminated Sites Approved Professionals Professional Development Workshop.  Many interesting topics were covered, including some important updates to the Contaminated Sites Regulation.  New vapour screening methods were introduced, and some new soil vapour leak testing methods and procedures were covered.  Give us a call any time to discuss what's new and exciting in the world of soil vapour.

Expansion into Terrace-Kitimat - Local Geotechnical and Environmental Drilling Company

Blue Max Drilling places a full service geotechnical and environmental truck mounted drill rig in the Terrace-Kitimat-Prince Rupert region of BC.  Blue Max has finalized the opening of a Terrace, BC office. We currently have a truck mounted drill rig positioned permanently in Terrace.  At this yard, we will station a full time crew and, to start, a truck-mount drill rig.  A track-mount drill rig will be coming shortly. We are committed to growth in this area of BC, and are willing to add more support and equipment as required to meet drilling needs. We are based out of Terrace, BC proper, fit with a permanent shop. Further, Blue Max has arranged to employ First Nation members on staff. These opportunities promote local employment and aboriginal skills development. Blue Max ownership holds key relationships with local First Nations, enabling us to easily pursue these prospects. With a local presence, and First Nations employment fostering skills development, we are well suited for future work in the region.  Blue Max’s Terrace facility can provide full geotechnical and environmental drilling services, including the following drill methods: auger, air rotary (ODEX), mud rotary and rock coring (diamond drilling). This is in addition to our sonic and direct-push capabilities available from our main facility in Surrey, BC. With beginnings in 2008, we have become a major player in the env/geo market in Vancouver, Victoria and the Okanagan. We want to be a local force in the Terrace/Kitimat/Prince Rupert area for years to come.

Asset Purchase: Dynamic Drilling & In-situ Testing

Blue Max Drilling recently completed the purchase of all assets from Dynamic Drilling & In-Situ Testing Inc., a Vancouver based geotechnical drilling company, specializing in Cone Penetration Testing (CPT) and other geotechnical drilling sampling services.  Included in the purchase was a robust Truck Drill Rig (BOA 10M) that specialized in CPT, performing 1,000's of metres of cone pushing work across BC.  Many consultants will be very familiar with this rig once it arrives on their site!
